Retraining After Automation

They replaced the interviewer first.
You did not notice.

Now look at the line.
That is not art. That is Tuesday morning. That is the interview you are about to walk into.
The system has no memory of what you built. It does not need one.
When they say retrain — what do they mean?
An entry level job. That is the destination. That is the plan.
The US government defines entry level as a position requiring minimal or no prior professional experience. The lowest rung. The place where someone begins before they have done anything yet.
So. You are going to be retrained for an entry level job.
Really.
You spent 15 years earning what you know. Raising a family on what that expertise was worth.
And the plan is to place you in a room with 22 year olds competing for the same $25,000 a year starting position. In a field you have never worked in.
Oxford says 47% of US jobs are at high risk of automation. McKinsey says 57% of US work hours are automatable right now. 50 million workers moving down the ladder simultaneously.
The compassion from those in power becomes something closer to theater.
The words cost nothing. The actions compound daily.
That gap has a name.

It is called the rest of your life.

You already thought of someone while reading this. Send it to them. A friend needs to hear this.
Has anyone you know been through retraining — did it lead where they were told it would?
