Parallel compression is probably more accessible to you than you think. If the routing of busses and sends feels intimidating, you could try using my lazy method instead. It's a little brutish, but in most cases, it delivers the same result. Oh yeah, and it's useful for more than just compression... It's a technique that combines the best of layering sounds without the work of recording a dozen different takes. As a bonus, you'll get to see how I utilize this technique to really fill out lead vocals so they really stand out in a mix. Anyways, video descriptions are cringe, so you should go read something else... hehe
