Selamat Malam Maria Episode 1

Nina is a high-flying public relations firm co-owner married to a dashing man. Initially from a modest background and the product of rather rigid and strict parents, she's worked hard to gain her success, and even harder to free herself from the confines of her father's traditionalist values. It has made her a hardened and unscrupulous business woman who will do anything to get what she wants.

With each step towards professional success, she has walked further away from her family -- hardly seeing nor speaking to them. Her marriage to her husband Danyal (Dan) -- born into a well-off family, with a westernized background -- appeared to seal her estrangement from her family. Her only link to her past is an old school friend Maria. Out of pity (and also convenience), Nina took this single mother under her wing, employing her as her assistant, or rather, lackey.

Maria is eager to rekindle their old friendship, but finds out that Nina is not the person she used to know -- she has hardened, doesn't play nice, and wears a different face in private and public. Maria is disappointed, but she needs the money and is grateful for her job, despite the fact that Nina treats her like a slave.
