NEW POSTER! LANTERNS OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE: DCU Series Hits HBO & Max August 16!

The Green Lantern Corps is officially taking over Sunday nights. HBO and DC Studios have confirmed that the highly anticipated series Lanterns will premiere on August 16, 2026. The 8-episode series, which is part of DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will air in the prestigious 9:00 p.m. Sunday slot on HBO and stream globally on Max. Created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, the show stars Kyle Chandler as veteran Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as new recruit John Stewart. Set in the American heartland, the plot follows the two intergalactic cops as they investigate a dark, Earth-based murder mystery described as an "HBO-quality event" in the vein of True Detective. The cast also includes Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry and Nathan Fillion reprising his role as Guy Gardner.
