Ever found one of these by a pond? 😱 It looks like a straight-up alien shell, but it’s actually a dragonfly exuvia!
Basically, dragonflies spend up to 5 years living underwater as vicious little predators. When they’re ready to grow up, they crawl out of the water, their skin splits down the back, and the adult dragonfly climbs out and flies away, leaving this perfect hollow shell behind. Nature is wild.
