In addition to a regular classic bellydance hip shimmy.....There are a few types of hipwork that are sometimes called shimmy. Let's talk about the 3/4 shimmy, or walking shimmy. Here it is........ 123... 123...123....
As you see the movement consists of three elements 1, 2, 3.... but in relation to music, the most typical simplest measure of your music will consist of 4 beats, so I'll need to fit 3 movements in a 4-beat measure. That's why we call it 3/4 shimmy.

This move is very simple if you think of it as a combination of a hip push and a hip lift.
Push your hip sideways, all your weight shifts here, and now lift the opposite hip, and gently lower it. These are our 3 movements: L
hip push, hip lift, lower your hip.....

When you speed it up it looks like this:
you can add a step to the hip push and turn this shimmy into a dance walk - this is our walking shimmy.
