Lesson: 13 - Measuring DC Voltages With Arduino Analog Inputs | analogRead() Explained

Hello and welcome to Electro Nerds Academy! In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to measure DC voltages with Arduino using the analogRead() function. Unlike digital signals, which can only be HIGH or LOW, analog signals are continuous and can take on any value within a range. With the help of Arduino’s Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), we can read these signals and convert them into meaningful voltage values.

What you’ll learn in this video:

✅ Difference between digital vs analog signals
✅ How Arduino’s ADC (10-bit resolution) works
✅ The concept of ADC values, step size, and voltage conversion formula
✅ How to turn your Arduino into a mini voltmeter using analogRead()
✅ What is a potentiometer and how it works ?
✅ Hands-on experiment with a variable power supply and a potentiometer

We’ll also go step by step through the Arduino code that displays both raw ADC values and actual voltage readings on the Serial Monitor.

By the end of this lesson, you’ll understand how Arduino measures analog voltages and how to use this feature in your own electronics projects.
