The Brno international trade fair for the wood-processing and furniture-making industries Wood-Tec 2017 has consolidated its position as the most important timber and furniture event for the Czech and Slovak republics. This year’s Wood-Tec was attended by over 319 companies from 18 countries. This had to include the trend-setters in the industry. These are respected important companies, professionals as well as a number of willing shoppers.
One of the climaxes of the whole trade fair is the official announcement of the award for the best products - the Wood-Tec Award.
The award-winning product is the Crafter and Versa, exhibited and manufactured by the company Soukup s.r.o.. The award will be collected by Jaroslav Soukup, the owner of the company.
The product is a combination of machines with a well-thought out, comprehensive design for both the mechanical parts and the control system software, which makes it easy for customers to adapt it to the global market. The set is designed for producing windows and doors by a knock-down method using traditional tenon joints.
Soukup is not only a traditional exhibitor at Wood-Tec, but also an important player in their field.
Soukup’s distinctive stand in a prestigious part of pavilion V constantly attracted not only professionals, but also a number of others interested in the technology on offer.

Jaroslav Soukup - managing director
The company was established in 1991 and our world is the world of windows. We produce machines for wooden windows manufacturing and we strive to find solutions for producers around the world. It starts with the window project where we offer companies the right solution based on our experience and expertise. Then we recommend the machines suitable for their production with regard to their size, purpose and also the country where they are situated. The whole project therefore begins with what the customer says that they want for windows. Our machines are able to read data from the design office and produce the required windows.
The award-winning machines, the Crafter and Versa, are for tenoning and profiling of window constructions, for consequent chiselling of locks, fitting and other things.
The material flow starts from the wooden balk, which we shorten on the optimising cross-cut saw. This is followed by 4-sided sanding on a four-side moulder. Next is tenoning, profiling, chiselling and fitting the metalwork. We offer machines for the whole process, including surface finishing and installation. We always try to design the project comprehensively.
Our customers are around the world. We have an extremely strong position in Great Britain and Ireland, where we try to read the market and find out what windows they need. There are specific requirements especially for listed buildings. Our machines are designed to produce beautiful sash windows also in extremely narrow shapes and sizes.
Other countries include the United States, Finland, Australia, but also the Czech Republic. That is why we are here at the Brno trade fair to show our products and technology to Czech producers as well.
