Cutting the material for a velvet wrap dress

-- Today I cut the material for a velvet wrap dress. In my previous video you could see how I made a pattern using fashion draping technique.
-- First of all I cut out selvage edge from material.
-- The fabric has a nap, and the direction of the nap is the direction in which the fabric feels smoother.
-- So make sure that all your pattern pieces placed on material in same direction.
-- Now you may cut the fabric. I use 10-inch pair tailor's shears. Fine shears give best service. You can purchase a pair of shears in my online shop. This is one of the most important tools for every dressmaker.
-- For the shoulder seams I use batiste bias tape. It prevents seams from stretching and doesn't create any bulk.
-- All seam allowances will be stitched with cross stitch. It will help to keep all seams flat.
