Can mediation end a criminal case under Section 498A IPC?
In this case, the parties settled their matrimonial disputes through mediation. The wife filed an affidavit stating that she had no surviving grievance and had no objection to quashing the FIR and all further proceedings. Considering the settlement, the Kerala High Court held that continuing the criminal case would serve no useful purpose and quashed the proceedings.
