The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre has announced Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) 2026 recruitment for talented science graduates who want to build a career in advanced research and nuclear science under India’s premier research institute.

Selected candidates will work in top BARC research centres located in Mumbai, Kalpakkam, Indore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam.

🎓 Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

• M.Sc. Degree with minimum 60% in B.Sc. and 55% in M.Sc.
• 5-year Integrated M.Sc. / B.S–M.S. Dual Degree with 55% aggregate
• 4-year B.S. Degree (Research) with 75% aggregate

📊 Mandatory National-Level Exam Qualification

Applicants must have qualified at least one of the following national exams (valid as on 01 July 2026):

• UGC-CSIR NET Fellowship
• Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)
• ICMR Junior Research Fellowship Test
• ICAR Junior Research Fellowship Test
• Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in Physics / Chemistry / Life Sciences / Biotechnology
• Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS)

💰 Stipend & Benefits

Selected fellows will receive attractive financial support:

• JRF Stipend: ₹37,000 per month
• SRF Stipend (from 3rd year): ₹42,000 per month

📝 Selection Process

The selection process includes two stages.

Stage 1 — Application Screening

1️⃣ Applications are reviewed based on eligibility and national-level exam scores
2️⃣ Candidates are shortlisted for interview based on performance
3️⃣ Number of shortlisted candidates will be decided by the Selection Committee

Stage 2 — Interview at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai

1️⃣ Shortlisted candidates attend an in-person interview
2️⃣ Final selection is entirely based on interview performance
3️⃣ Research project allocation depends on interview assessment

📅 Interview Schedule: Tentatively June – July 2026

If two candidates score the same, M.Sc. / B.Sc. marks will be considered for final ranking.
