On the rear axle is what is known as a horn and bumper, forged of 3/4 x 3 stock. This steers and stops the following wagon. Since all three wagons are pulled in unison, these horn and bumpers are what allows the wagons to start, stop and turn. They are placed on the rear axles of each wagon and are fundamental in making the wagons operate as a unit.
