2020 Chevrolet Corvette AFM Test – MPG With and Without Cylinder Deactivation

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 utilizes cylinder deactivation (active fuel management in GM speak) to save fuel in low-power situations. Chevy claims that this system has been refined for the mid-engine Corvette, but there are others who would rather run on all eight cylinders all the time. In order to see what benefits AFM makes in the real world, we tested this convertible Corvette in two identical runs, once with AFM enabled and once without.
