Undefeated Ding Liren Faces the Four Knights Scotch

Featured is an instructive chess game between Huang Renjie and Ding Liren from Round 5 of the 2026 Chinese Team Chess Championship. Arising out of a Four Knights Scotch, we reach an original position after 18...h6. The resulting major piece specific endgame is level, however Ding’s more active queen soon wins him a pawn. Renjie will still have chances to hold as the game becomes a calculation-heavy queen endgame.
