I Didn’t Expect THIS on Top of a Mountain in IRELAND| Irish Roadtrip - Sperrin Mountains

This was easily our scariest park-up yet…

We arrived at Gortin Lakes in complete darkness, with no plan, no campsite booked, and no idea where we were staying — a real off-grid vanlife experience in Northern Ireland.

What started as a slightly uneasy night wild camping in our campervan turned into something completely unexpected the next morning.
After grabbing a last-minute takeaway and parking up in the pitch dark, we woke up and explored Gortin Forest Park, one of the most beautiful forest parks in the Sperrin Mountains.

This vanlife Ireland trip quickly turned from a “scary park-up” into an unforgettable adventure as we discovered something hidden deep in the mountains — something we definitely didn’t expect to find.
