Birth Name - Tshering Phintso Denzongpa
Danny, who married Gawa Denzongpa, a Sikkimese princess and niece of the last chogyal from her hometown of Gangtok, currently resides in Juhu in Mumbai. He likes to listen to Nepali folk music especially Nepali flutes. In recent times he has become more selective as to the roles he plays. He does not work in March, April, and May as they are hot. The movies he chooses, he works on his own terms. He has a son named Rinzing and a daughter named Pema. His brother owns a bouj and beer factory in Melli, Sikkim.
Helped fellow Nepali actor Phunsok Ladhaki in Bollywood in the 1970s.
Director Ugyen is his nephew. Ugyen directed the film Bandhu.
Danny Denzongpa had signed the film Yeh Gulistan Hamara and sung a song in his own voice. That is when Johnny Walker walked into producer Atma Ram's office and demanded a role in the film . Johhny Walker and Atma Ram were best friends. Atma Ram then gave Danny's role to Johnny Walker and gave Danny another role in the film . The song sung by Danny was now to be picturized on Johnny Walker. Danny was to start shooting for his new role when he was told they replaced him with a much more known Sujit Kumar. This disappointed Danny but he understood as a newcomer these games were played.
Brother name is P.D. Denzongpa.
Danny was the youngest of his family. He has 7 brothers and 4 sisters.
In 1994, a film titled "Adhyaay" was launched. It starred newcomers Arsh Malhotra and Dozy Denzongpa. The film got shelved. She may have been a relative of Danny Denzongpa.
