10' x 8' Log Cabin Episode 13 - Ceiling Joists

We complete the door frame, and prepare two horizontal logs on the front and back walls to receive the ceiling joists with dovetail mortices which will help to lock the front and back walls in place. Four Ceiling joists are installed with room on the right side for a ladder to access the loft. We customize the slots on the top of the two rear vertical corner poles into dovetail mortices and install a final log on the rear wall to fit them which helps lock the side walls in place. Finally a rectangular mortice is cut in this final log on the rear wall and a vertical pole with a large tenon is installed to match the height of the tall front central vertical pole which together will support the main 16' ridge pole.
