Delivering higher-density suburban development | Progressing Planning
Can design make higher density development more acceptable in the suburbs? As London faces a severe housing crisis, it needs to build more housing to meet people’s needs. But, as the decision has been made not to build in the greenbelt, much of this housing will need to go into the suburbs where resistance to higher density development may be higher.
Featuring Associate Professor of Planning Alan Mace, this film explores the relationship between design and density and suggests that relying on design as a method of making higher density development acceptable may not produce more popular or less controversial schemes.
