"पियूजी बिना म्हारो प्राण पड़े" is a melodious Kabir Bhajan that portrays the pain of separation from a loved one. Here the beloved is someone, who will bring eternal salvation and peace to its other better half. In this composition we can consider, Piyu ji as Lord Rama or for a matter of fact, any other supreme deity, whose presence can be felt only after immersing oneself in true Bhakti, that is itself an ordeal.

Without water, a fish is not able to breathe and similarly without the beloved, the lady is incomplete and is yearning to be united with its Lord. Finally the enchanting world of mystic songs and bhajans has encapsulated her and she is ready to loose her old self and set on a journey to find the one who will rescue her from this turmoil.

Saint Kabir says that the path to find the Almighty is laid with thorns. It is full of unprecedented challenges! In order to find him, one has to renounce the materialistic pleasures, the comforts of royal palace and the exquisite clothes, and donne oneself in the robes of saffron.

Sung by the skilled Shabnam Virmani, a National Award winning documentary filmmaker, a soulful singer, an enigmatic storyteller and an inspirational writer, she has been exploring the myriad possibilities and power of mystic poetry and its oral traditions through her consistent efforts.

Close your eyes and feel the depth of this beautiful Kabir bhajan.

Translation:
My being is tormenting and dying without my beloved!
As does the fish die without water!

Hark! Who would help me convene with my beloved?
I am crying and sobering
O my friend! Come to my land
The arrow of divine songs has struck me
O my friend! Come to the land of the master

How long would you be sleeping in this colourful palace my friend?
Wake! And try to seek the beloved
Who would help me convene with my lord, my friend? I lay a colourful couch
My friend, Come to my land
The arrow of divine songs has struck me
O my friend! Come to the land of the master

Leave your maternal home and house of in-laws, my friend, Leave the colourful couches
Leave dressing in the yellow glad rags my friend, Now put on the pristine white robes
My friend, come to my land
The arrow of divine songs has struck me
O my friend! Come to the land of the master

Why are you clinging over the brilliance of a single sun, my friend? A billion sun glimmer at my land,
Kabir says to Dharmdas, my friend, That abode is the land of gibbets
Come to my land
The arrow of divine songs has struck me
O my friend! Come to the land of the master
