Gopher buries Tunnel Trap

This Botta's Pocket Gopher (Thomomys bottae) climbs over a tunnel trap and then buries the trap in dirt, plugging the tunnel section, and all without springing the trap. This smaller and lighter young gopher was in an extensive tunnel system dug by other larger gophers before it, with about 140 linear feet of tunnel in a 300 square foot area. I have had many tunnel traps similarly buried by other gophers of all sizes and in different tunnel diameters. Some gophers just bury these tunnel traps whenever they encounter such traps.
