Ghana's Oil and Gas sector is growing | Sentuo Oil Refinery

Sentuo Oil Refinery Limited in Tema, Ghana, is a substantial multi-product crude oil refinery with a US $1.98 billion investment and a capacity of five million metric tonnes per year (equivalent to 100,000 barrels per stream a day).

The refinery will operate in two phases, starting with an initial production capacity of 2 million tons per year and eventually expanding to 5 million metric tons per annum. The test run is scheduled for August 2023. The refinery aims to set a benchmark for petrochemical production in West Africa and distribute petroleum products globally.

It is part of Ghana's "One District One Factory" (1D1F) policy, contributing to the country's industrialization efforts and boosting energy development in the region. There are also plans for the Tema III refinery, with a total capacity of 5 million metric tons per annum, scheduled to begin operations in 2025 and operated by Sentuo Oil Refinery.

The Tema III refinery's key processes include Crude Distillation Unit, Vacuum Distillation, Catalytic Cracker, Reformer, and Hydrotreater. Overall, Sentuo Oil Refinery Limited is set to play a crucial role in Ghana's economic growth and energy sector.
