ALASKA DAY IN SITKA - 2018

Is was in Sitka that Russia transferred the territory of Alaska into the hands of the USA on October 18th, 1867. Here that event is commemorated and celebrated in a variety of ways, including but not limited to, a smoked salmon competition, a memorial service, a pie sale, a parade, a SAR (Search and Rescue) Demonstration, a brew fest with Baranof Island Brewing Company, and a bag piper performance all of which took place on Alaska Day 2018 and were captured in this video.
