TEFL VS CELTA | My Ofqual level 5 TEFL experience

Getting a job as an ESL teacher can be really hard if you don’t have a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA qualification and your home country degree is not recognised in a country where you’re looking for a job. Even if you have relevant teaching experience and some other certificates many employers won’t be even considering your cv. So naturally you end up googling CELTA and TEFL. To help you make the right decision I made this video. This is my experience of taking Ofqual regulated 180 hours level 5 TEFL. I also interviewed my colleagues who completed CELTA in the past and I provide a quick summary of those interviews.

In the video I mention that I’ll post my answers to some of the exam questions in the description so there you go.

Explain the importance of English in economic, social and cultural terms. Please discuss each term separately.
English is normally the second language pupils learn in schools in non-English speaking countries. In Europe that's 91% of pupils. That means English is the most likely language to get you foreign language speaking friends.
Speaking of 'Friends', it's very hard to find someone who at least didn't hear about the TV show. The Guardian considers the tv series an international English teacher. You can connect with anyone in the world if you can quote a few jokes from there.
It's not uncommon now to speak English to your colleagues even if Japanese is the mother tongues for both of you. Big companies are requesting their employees to speak English so that all international employees are included. English is the language of business.

Interpret the ways in which person is indicated in English grammar by providing a brief summary in the box below. Please include at least one example of each.
Proper nouns (Jack), nouns (a teacher), and pronouns (they, themselves) can all refer to people. There are also 3 grammatical persons. We normally refer to ourselves as I or we, to the person (people) we're talking to as 'you' and third party as 'he/she', 'they'. The social trend of the past few years is to let people identify themselves in a way that's most comfortable for them. Merriam-Webster announced the pronoun “they” as its word of the year in 2019. It's important that English teachers not only teach grammar but also pay attention to its social application.
