After over a week, we finally let our free range chickens out of the coop! We did this so they could learn the location of the new chicken coop & comeback there to roost & lay eggs. Now let's see if it worked!

In today's family farm vlog, we are letting all our free range egg laying chickens out of the new chicken coop we just got finished building. We had to do this so that our chickens will learn the new location of their coop and where to comeback to at night to roost and to lay eggs. We do not want to anything to happen to our backyard chickens and keep them safe from any predators at night and also we do not want them laying their large eggs all over the homestead either. So a raising chickens 101 tip: if you are just starting out raising you own backyard chickens, always remember to keep them locked up in your poultry house or hen house for at least a week so they will figure out where to roost at night and also so it the chooks will know where to lay their eggs everyday. But thing is for sure about raising your own chickens, there is nothing like owning chickens for eggs!
