Sean Watson Graham - "Post Breakup Bender" | Indie88 Live Sessions

Toronto singer-songwriter Sean Watson Graham is back with another Indie88 Live Session. This time he’s performing his latest single “Post Breakup Bender.”

“I wrote ‘Post Breakup Bender’ after I dealt with the end of a relationship in the most self-destructive way,” Graham explains. “While overcoming the pain of losing someone I cared deeply for, I was fortunate enough to find myself in the madness. This song goes out to anyone who’s dealt with hurt in what may have felt like a less than constructive way, and yet still managed to come out on the other end a better version of themselves.”

The track will be featured on Graham’s upcoming record due out this year. While the forthcoming album will be his debut as a solo artist, Graham has previously released music with his former band Modern Space. After performing alongside bands like Dear Rouge and the Arkells, Modern Space called it quits in 2019.

After the breakup, Graham rediscovered his love of playing acoustic guitar. He spent many nights creating new tunes on his balcony with just his guitar and a notepad. Soon he began collaborating with his close friends Sam Arion (Mute Choir), Keegan Powell (Teenage Kicks, Chastity) and Jesse Klein (Phaze).

They set up shop at his family’s cottage in Sault Ste Marie during the covid-19 pandemic, where they began recording Graham’s debut EP. Shortly after, Graham released his first singles "Your Life Is a Story" and "Nice Night to Get Lost." He performed the two tracks on his previous Indie88 Live Session. "Post Breakup Bender" marks Graham's third release from the project, which he describes as "one hundred percent" his creative vision. "No business agenda went into writing these songs, there was no outside influences making notes with dollar signs in their eyes; this is just a pure release of Sean’s true self."
