This autism mom vlog was made to show you how we have figured out how to keep our autistic daughter safe at home. Keira is a smart girl and can figure out how to get out of the house and run off. We don’t know how or why she would want to elope and we can’t communicate about this, but we have put safety measures in place to make sure that she is safe and can’t inadvertently get out of the house. I wish we could communicate with her better about safety issues, but until then we have had to figure out what to do to keep her safe in our home. I know that this is a major issue for many families with kids on the spectrum. You want to give them as much freedom as possible, but you still need to keep them safe. I show you all of the different mechanisms we have come up with, including locks to keep her out of knives, the toilets etc...
