Technical university of Moldova seeks Indian students, collaborations with Indian tech universities

The Technical University of Moldova (UTM), renowned for its high academic standards and globally recognized degrees, is reaching out to Indian students and seeking collaboration with prestigious Indian technology universities. Viorel Bostan, the university's rector, emphasizes the institution's commitment to attracting Indian students and forging stronger academic and research partnerships with India counterpart universities.

"We know that Indian students are very responsible and motivated. We are looking for bright students who will join our academic community," said Bostan. "The level of our education is very high, and degrees and diplomas from UTM are recognized worldwide. This means that you can study here for a bachelor's or master's degree, and your diploma will be recognized globally", he explained.

Currently, UTM hosts approximately 400 international students among a diverse student body. Bostan highlighted the university's goal to increase this number, reflecting TUM's commitment to global education. "Right now, most of our students are international, and we aim to bring more. We also want to establish close ties with different industries, as they are the final beneficiaries of our graduates. We ensure our students are well-prepared to integrate into the industry market from the first day," the rector pointed.

UTM 's focus on practical, hands-on learning, especially in engineering, ensures that graduates are not only theoretically proficient but also capable of applying their knowledge in real-world projects. This practical approach is highly valued by industries, particularly the fast-growing IT sector in Moldova, which is in urgent need of skilled engineers. "All of our students are immediately employed after graduation due to a significant deficit of engineers," Bostan added.

The university's history dates back to 1964 when it was established as a polytechnic institute during the Soviet era. Following Moldova's independence in 1991, it transformed into a university and expanded its academic offerings. Today, UTM has 11 faculties covering all engineering sciences, architecture, industrial design, and fashion design programs. Recent mergers with the Agricultural State University have added faculties of Agricultural, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, and Veterinary Medicine.

Bostan envisions a future where closer ties with Indian universities can foster joint academic cooperation and research. "We want to have closer ties with Indian universities; they have a very good reputation. Together, we can work on joint academic cooperation and research," he stated.

In addition to its academic programs, Technical University of Moldova boasts three research institutes and numerous partnership agreements with Romanian universities, enriching its academic and research environment. The university has trained over 78,387 specialists and continues to offer postgraduate education, and professional development courses.
