After the resurrection of Jesus, early the first day of the week, the women went and found the tomb of Jesus empty, after running and tell the disciples and came and found the tomb empty as well, two of the disciples were on their way to Emmaus. Jesus would join Himself to them while they didn't know who He was, because God kept them from identifying Him.

They speak to Jesus on the road to Emmaus concerning what happened, yet their understanding was not clear concerning Christ. Jesus rebuked them, and then showed them Him in scripture, as they entered into the place they were going to, He revealed Himself to them during supper and vanished.
