👉 K👉 Kintsugi Inspired Enamel Bowl Tutorial | Japanese Gold Effect

Japanese Gold Repair (Kintsugi)

Discover the beauty of Kintsugi, the traditional Japanese art of “golden repair,” where imperfections are transformed into elegant designs with gold, and create your own stunning enamel bowls with this unique kit.

Kintsugi is based on the idea that imperfections are not flaws to hide, but part of an object’s history and beauty. Instead of restoring something to look “new,” it celebrates cracks and marks as meaningful and unique.
This philosophy is closely connected to Wabi-Sabi, which values simplicity, imperfection, and the natural passage of time.

Inspired by Japanese aesthetics, you will create an enameled bowl featuring soft, harmonious colors and elegant metallic gold accents, resulting in a refined and artistic finish.

Perfect for both beginners and experienced artists, this kit includes everything you need to explore a unique and elegant enameling style.

🎥 A step-by-step video tutorial is included, guiding you through the entire process from start to finish.

What’s included:
2 bowl copper blanks
Metallic gold paint
3 oz black enamel powder 473
Klyr-Fire (18 ml)
Surface preparer (18 ml)
Paint brush
Bowl Trivet
Wire Mesh 3.6"*3.6"

### **How to create your design:**

1. **Prepare the bowl**
Wash the copper bowl thoroughly with water and soap, then dry well.

2. **First enamel layer (back side)**
Apply a **very small amount of surface preparer** and wipe it well across the surface.
Then apply a thin layer of Klyr-Fire.
Using a sifter, evenly sprinkle black enamel powder 473.
Place the bowl on the trivet and fire in a kiln at **1400°F for about 2 minutes**.

3. **Build full coverage**
Add a second layer of enamel to achieve full, even coverage.
Fire again under the same conditions.

4. **Front side enameling**
Once the bowl has cooled, apply a **very small amount of surface preparer** and wipe well.
Then apply Klyr-Fire.
Sift black enamel powder onto the front side.
Fire in the kiln.
Repeat for a **second layer**

5. **Cooling**
Allow the bowl to cool completely after the final firing.

6. **Kintsugi gold effect**
Apply a very small amount of surface preparer and wipe well.
Add a few drops of the surface preparer to the metallic gold paint, mix gently with the brush, and then create your design.
Paint fine lines across the bowl to mimic traditional Kintsugi repairs.
