What if you could capture the gritty, experimental soul of a 1979 digital studio classic—without the noise, the maintenance, or the midi cable headaches?
PitchSonic, the newest addition to our BlueFace series. This is not just another pitch shifter. This is a time machine for your audio signal, designed to bring the weird, wonderful, and wildly creative character of the vintage MXR rack units directly into your Reason workflow.

The History: The Digital Dawn & The Blue Face

To understand PitchSonic, we need to rewind to the end of the 1970s. While most manufacturers were focused on analog warmth, MXR—already famous for their bright orange pedals—decided to leap into the future. They introduced a line of rackmount effects that looked like they belonged on a starship, defined by their striking "Blue Face" front panels .

Units like the M-129 Pitch Transposer weren't clean. They were lo-fi, unpredictable, and full of artifacts. But here is the magic: Those "flaws" became features. Where modern pitch shifters try to hide the digital processing, the BlueFace units celebrated it.

These racks became the secret weapon of legends. David Gilmour used the BlueFace delays to create atmospheric textures. Frank Zappa was an early adopter. Jaco Pastorius used them as looping devices.

We built PitchSonic to honor that legacy. It is a meticulous recreation of that rare, sought-after rackmount module, reimagined for the modern producer.

What It Can Do (And Why You Need It)

So, why use PitchSonic when Reason has pitch shifting devices? Because PitchSonic doesn't just shift pitch—it destroys, regenerates, and mutates sound.

Here is what happens when you load it up:

1. The Quad Harmony Engine
PitchSonic features 4 individual preset channels. You can set intervals from a full octave down to an octave up.

2. The "Regen" Chaos
This is the secret sauce. The Regeneration (Regen) knob controls the recirculation of the pitched signal.

3. The "Glitch" Vibrato
Vintage digital gear had a habit of glitching when the pitch shifted too hard. In PitchSonic, we didn't fix that—we enhanced it. #turn2on #pitchsonic #mxr #M129 #pitch #effect #reasonstudios #landr #reason #blueface
