Naval Legends: USS Essex | World of Warships

The Essex class aircraft carriers are the victorious ships of the US Navy. They were nicknamed the Masters of the Pacific: not a single ship of this class was lost in battle, despite several of them sustaining heavy damage.

With the introduction of aircraft carriers, naval warfare underwent a dynamic shift. Though navies may have been launching manned aerial vehicles from ships long before the appearance of what might considered a modern aircraft carrier, it wasn't until WWII that warplanes became synonymous with naval combat.
