For the next episode of WhiskefyTV, I’m tasting this bottle of Wilderness Trail Rye Picked by Whiskey Hunt Australia dubbed “The Bourbon Zombie” with The Fiend, Jacob! Let’s get this sucker popped and hook in 🥃

Notes: Whiskey Hunt Australia dropped this sucker a while back and I was able to jump on a live with Macauley Minton AKA The Bourbon Swami, who is the Chief Barrel Picker for Wilderness Trail Distillery. This was a barrel that was picked by the Dell, Jackie and the team at WHA/Orrsum Spirits when they went to Kentucky in April. Unofficially, this was one of the first bottles that landed in Australia that wasn’t FERM PRO 1.

As we dive into this nose, caramel and green apple take over the senses. Imagine toffee apple! With oak and a touch of clove for spice but a welcoming spearmint candy note arrives just in time.

Palate, medium viscosity, gala/fuji apple (less sweet than a green apple) and a Kentucky Chew reminiscent of Cottees Cordial.

As I take this one down, comes in strong with a grassy lime note, cottees cordial still lingers with a cheeky peanut nuttiness arrives at the end. Finish lands in the medium category.

Onto the SIP / SHOOT / SINK method;

SIP - Quality pour, can sit and drink it all night 🥃
SHOOT - Treat this like Fireball/Sheepdog at a bar 🔫
SINK - Drain worthy pour 🚰
