During our last visit to India, we planned a brief visit to Bangalore, Karnataka. We had more fun than we set out for, while we were at it Mysore made it to our list and we headed there. We spent a day there and stumbled upon this undiscovered gem on our way back.

Mysuru Sand Sculpture Museum is the only sand museum in India, which surprised us as this is the only kind of museum we have never been to or heard of. Created solely with sand, water and a small amount of glue is a brainchild of MN Gowri and boasts around 150 sand sculptures across 16 different themes. It is estimated that around 115 truckloads of sand were used to built this eco-friendly attraction.

So next time you are somewhere around Mysore DO NOT miss this gem as its very easy to get to by car cab or even auto rickshaw.
