E-Mandate 2026 New Rules & Auto-Debit Changes #emandate #RBI #policy #2026 #loanshoan

E-Mandate & Auto-Debit:

The RBI’s updated 2026 Framework streamlines your recurring payments. Here is the "too long; didn't read" version of what has changed:

1. New Transaction Limits
👉 Up to ₹15,000: No OTP required for standard recurring payments.
👉 Up to ₹1 Lakh: No OTP required for Insurance, SIPs, and Credit Card bills.
👉 Over ₹1 Lakh: Always requires an OTP for every debit.

2. The 24-Hour Warning
Banks must send a notification at least 24 hours before any debit. This alert includes a link to cancel or skip that specific payment immediately.

3. Total Control
Set Caps: For fluctuating bills (like utilities), you can set a maximum limit.

Easy Exit: You can now pause, modify, or delete any mandate directly through your banking app—no more calling customer support.

Cross-Border Safety: These rules now apply to international subscriptions (e.g., Netflix, iCloud) just like domestic ones.

4. What’s Exempt?
FASTag and NCMC (Transit) cards do not require the 24-hour pre-debit alert to ensure your travel remains seamless.

Bottom Line: You get fewer interruptions for small bills, but more protection and "cancel-at-any-time" power for the big ones.
