Vanlife Lofoten - Exploring a Secret Cave in Northern Norway
Hello everyone! In this video we explore a really cool cave in northern Norway. We'll give you a quick tour of what's inside and tell you a little bit more about it.
We learned about this cave from a friend of ours who lives in Lofoten. We were only allowed to visit this place if we promised not to share any details about its location.
Hidden places like this are very rare nowadays. This part of Norway gets very crowded during high season. That's why locals try to preserve their hidden gems from being overrun by tourists.
If you find a cave like this and use something in it, make sure to leave something behind.
You can leave something useful for the next person to use or maybe a little note where you tell a little bit about yourself and your experience from that place. :)
English subtitles are available. We only had one camera with us, no microphone or any other gear, since we had to get there by water, so the sound quality is not the best in this video.
Pre-story:
We went out when the weather was fine and the wind speed was safe for kayaking. Little did we know that sometimes in fjords (waters between mountains) the wind can pick up FAST, in just a couple of minutes!
We were really lucky to be halfway through the fjord before the storm hit us! We had to paddle as fast as we could and make sure that waves were hitting us in the stern, otherwise we would flip! Despite the stormy weather we saw a huge seal checking us out. Later we found out that locals call him Mr.Grumpy! Luckily we managed to get ashore without flipping in the ice-cold waters of the Norwegian sea.
We were so stressed and had to paddle as fast as we could, that's why we didn´t have time to film anything during our journey through the fjord.
After getting back on land we decided to stay a while in our friend's cave to wait out the storm.
We had some coffee and snacks with us so we could take a break, get some rest before heading back.
This cave was very cozy. It´s a pity we couldn´t stay there for the night but we had to get back to Balthazar who was staying with our friend.
This adventure was very inspiring! Now we are very excited to find and create our own special cave! Everybody should have a cave!
