Making a Viking Tool Chest pt2 -BorntoForge -

This weeks Episode is part 2 of making a viking style tool chest,

Part 1 the chest. This is made in same construction style as many historical finds from the 9th -12th century, this is not intended to be an exact replica. I am making the chest as a prototype to try out the construction and test the locks and hardware for a oak replica of the mastermyr chest that i hope to make in a few months time.

Part 2 - Forging and fitting the hinges and lock, there was a bit of trial and error in this one, working from photo's and draings of finds made this a little challenging but we got there in the end. I did forget to film the key as i just made a quick dummy one to test the lock and ended up modifying it to use as the finished key. maybe one for another video.

Material :-
-Live edge Cedar boards
-Lock & hinges are steel

Finish:- Linseed Oil, Beeswax

Hope you find it interesting, if you have any ideas for future videos let me know in the comments below.
