Pressure mounts for resignation of NY Governor Cuomo amid sexual harassment claims
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has responded to sexual harassment claims made by two former aides as pressure mounts for the leader to step down.
Addressing the allegations in a statement Mr Cuomo said, “I now understand that my interactions may have been insensitive or too personal”.
“I acknowledge some of the things I have said have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation. To the extent anyone felt that way, I am truly sorry about that”.
On Saturday Mr Cuomo denied allegations made by former aide Charlotte Bennet who worked as an executive assistant and health policy adviser.
Her story came on the heels of former aide Lindsay Boylan who last week detailed several years involving uncomfortable interactions with Mr Cuomo.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said there should be an independent review into the allegations.
