Frank Wycheck’s brother recalls one of the NFL great’s early concussions

Frank Wycheck won over coaches as a rookie with a strong training camp. But during the team’s final preseason game, he suffered a concussion.

There was little sense, at the time, that such injuries were a harbinger of future crises, for both Wycheck and the NFL.

Scientists in Boston will tell the former NFL tight end's family whether his fears were correct — was he another football player whose love of the game had exacted a heavy price, and left him with CTE?
