This video started as a simple idea "wow how cool would it be if I put the marching hyenas scene to the rhythm of Phonky Town for an Halloween video??".
Of course, it had to develop into something I unfortunately didn't foresee. As I looked for visually matching scenes and focused on just that, I started feeling uneasy.
This feeling became straight up discomfort when I ended up with a complete video in my hands, discomfort and shivers from the pure dystopic anguish that I somehow shoved into it.

Sometimes you read "in this art piece, the artist expressed their fears and emotions in such and such ways", and I think I can check that off my hobo artist achievement list.
I unintentionally made something that gives me anguish and discomfort, vent art if you will.
I haven't taken my eyes off of news from the European front, and I can tell you that the gas prices aren't what's worrying me, and I just couldn't get out of my head that what I was staring at was nothing less than a glimpse of the future.
I'm aware of the immense privilege of growing up in a place where everyone around me could say "it won't ever happen again here" and "we learned from our mistakes, so maybe the shattering of that fake sense of security is what's been getting to me. I look outside (and, given recent events, inside) my country and ask myself "when will it happen next door? When will it be our turn?", and nothing is scarier than that.

PS: I willingly avoided using clips from movies that were based on real events of the last century (like Waltz with Bashir, Persepolis, Grave of the Fireflies, The Breadwinner, etc), as they made me feel sick with discomfort.

Non/Disney is the term that has been used for 10 years in the community to define AMV-like videos (and manips) created with content both from Disney (the better-known majority) and from others animation studios.
That's where the term Non/Disney comes from, to make things easier.
