Melanie Phillips - Lockdown Diaries by Danube Institute part 1

In recent episode of the Lockdown Diaries, John O’Sullivan, president of the Danube Institute in Budapest interviews Melanie Phillips, British journalist, author, public commentator, currently living in Israel. Phillips is an expert on political and social issues, and was awarded Orwell Prize for her journalistic work.

Phillips explains, that true liberty can only be guaranteed by the nation-state, and the patriotism of its people. According to her, that is why today’s leftism is so dangerous, as it associated nationalism with fascism and Nazism, and thus made the West lose its moral foundation which was its fundamental belief and pride in its nations.

Does Hitler was not a nationalist, but an imperialist defeated by the nationalism of the British, the French or the American people?

Az interjúban Phillips ezután kifejti, hogy az igazi szabadságot egyedül a nemzetállam és az emberek patriotizmusa képes garantálni. Szerinte a mai baloldali világnézet azért olyan veszélyes, mert azonosította a nacionalizmust a fasizmussal és a nácizmussal, és eelérték, hogy a Nyugat elveszítse alapvető értékrendjét, amit a nemzetbe vetett hite tartott fenn.
