2023-24 South Pacific Cyclone Season Animation

The 2023-24 South Pacific cyclone season was another below-average season for the basin. It was very similiar to 2006-07. Both seasons started with a powerful pre-season cyclone, had a moderately strong cyclone in November, and degraded into nothing but slops and weak storms for the rest. In 2023-24, that powerful pre-season cyclone was LOLA which impacted several nations, especially Vanuatu after peaking as a Category 4 (SSHWS) major cyclone. LOLA was part of a streak of storms around the world that underwent rapid intensification in late October 2024.
