Canada's education workers and unions warn funding, staff shortage contributing to abuse
As the shortage of teachers in Canada continues, education support workers and their unions are raising the alarm that funding issues and not enough staff are contributing to abuse in schools.
Educational assistants, child care practitioners and many others who often work one-on-one with students needing additional support are seeing themselves pulled in multiple directions— and it's leaving students' needs unmet.
As Sean Previl reports, the unions say provincial and territorial governments need to recognize there is an issue and commit to more funding to help address problem.
