How to fly at Mach 9 in the new Darkstar for Microsoft Flight Simulator

The Darkstar is part of the “Top Gun: Maverick” expansion, which you can now download. More information on the update can be found here: https://www.flightsimulator.com/become-a-top-gun-pilot-in-free-expansion-available-today/

To find out more about this fictional aircraft, take a look at this piece: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/skunk-works-helped-create-the-darkstar-jet-for-top-gun-maverick

*CORRECTION*: At 1:03, I say "until you hit Mach 9". This should be "until you hit Mach 0.9".

If you have any feedback or questions, do get in touch!

For anyone struggling to get to Mach 3: ensure you're above Mach 1 in the dive, and, as I do in the video, make sure you're pitching out of the dive *gently*. The engines really start to get going at around Mach 1.5.

For Xbox users, follow this guide to assign a button to toggle the afterburner: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/xbox-easy-way-to-toggle-afterburner-f-a-18-super-hornet/472946. I play on PC so use #, but you can assign any button that works for you.

[Bear in mind that you need to be above Mach 3 to engage the scramjet - I suggest following the parameters in this video closely, because I've found the aircraft somewhat temperamental otherwise!]
