Big Update!!! | Under Age Child / Juvenile Riding & Driving Rule In Motor Vehicle Act, Section 199A

Underage riding and driving is a growing problem in India, with many young people getting behind the wheel without proper training or experience. Not only is underage driving and riding illegal, but it also puts the driver, passengers, and other road users at risk. It can lead to multiple dangers, including causing harm to the driver and damage to the vehicle.

According to the Section 199A of Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, the legal driving age in India is 18 years old. Anyone caught driving or riding bike, scooter, car under the age of 18 years is considered an underage driver and is subject to fines and penalties.

According to the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, if an underage person is found driving on the roads in the country, their parent or guardian might have to face up to 3 years in prison and a penalty of ₹25000. Also, the driver who was driving the bike will not be able to get a driving licence till they turn 25. So, as a parent, it is your responsibility not to allow driving once your child reaches the legal age to drive a scooter in India.
