Tottenham star midfielder James Maddison said it was great to see the support for his manager Ange Postecoglou in the former South Melbourne and Melbourne Victory coach's hometown.

Spurs faced Newcastle United last night at Melbourne's MCG in front of just shy of 80,000 football fans.

"Ange is a good man," Maddison said following the match.

"To see him in his country with the support that he gets here, it was nice to see."
