How I Make Lumber with Less Manual Labour | Sawmill Shed Build - Episode 15

I'm showing you today how I make lumber with less manual labour using my newly-constructed sawmill log platform and sawmill shed. The log platform should provide me with a great place to pile logs while they wait to be milled on my Woodland Mills HM130 portable sawmill. Since this sawmill is quite a distance back in the woods, I don't always have my tractor available to individually load logs. Having a log platform like this allows me keep sawing even without the tractor present in all weather conditions. Today you'll see how I get the logs rolled across my sawmill platform onto my sawmill with nothing more than my bare hands. The slight downward slope created by the 6x6 spanner posts helps the logs to roll smoothly onto the mill with very little manual labour. If you're in the market for a sawmill shed and have the chance to build yourself a log platform, I'd say go for it. You'll be happy you did when you are able to reduce the manual labour involved in getting logs onto your sawmill. You may also prevent damage to your sawmill bed as the logs gently roll onto it instead of being placed onto it with machinery. If you're interested in checking out the process of building this sawmill shed, be sure to check out the playlist. Thanks for watching everyone!
