🔴 Terminal Velocity || for Class 11 in HINDI
In this Physics video in Hindi we explained terminal velocity and derived its formula for class 11. When a body is acted upon by a force and moves in a fluid, the fluid applies drag force on that body due to viscosity of the fluid. This drag force increases with the speed of the body and hence, a time reaches when the applied force and the drag force comes in equilibrium and body stops accelerating. As acceleration stops speed ceases to increase. This constant speed is called terminal velocity.
To derive the terminal velocity Stokes law and Archimedes' principle are crucial. The maximum speed with which a body can fall through a fluid is known as the terminal velocity of that object in that fluid. This speed is attained by an object when the gravitational force equals the sum of the viscous force and the buoyant force. To find the viscous force we use Stokes law and to find the buoyant force we use Archimedes' principle.
The terminal velocity depends on the square of the radius of the sphere and inversely on the viscosity of the medium.
