Bonnie Tyler interview about her new album - Dzień Dobry TVN
Bonnie talks to Polish television about her new album 'The Best is Yet to Come'. Buy the album here: https://bonnietyler.lnk.to/TheBestIsYetToCome
Here's am English transcript of parts of this interview:
Q: Are you aware of how many fans you have here in Poland?
A: I do lots of shows there, yeah. I do know that I am popular there, and I love to go there as well.
Q: Are you a sentimental kind of person? On your Instagram profile, I see a lot of old pictures of you. Do you like to go back to the past?
A: Well, to be honest, I don't run my Instagram myself. We have a team of people that work on that. But yeah, I have hundreds and thousands of pictures of my family everywhere. They don't like to be online, a lot of them.
Q: I'm asking because I was wondering how different it is to be in the music industry nowadays than it was in the 70s or 80s.
A: Years ago, in the 70s and the 80s, I used to sell – at the very minimum – 36 thousand copies a day. Sometimes it was 52 thousand copies. You don't record records now to have success in the charts. You do it because you want the new material for the stage.
Q: Going back to the album, should we expect another big hit?
A: I think... When the Lights Go Down, Stronger Than a Man, or Call Me Thunder!
Q:
A: Absolutely. Especially now, because -- Also, about a year and a half ago, I was lucky to have an audience with Pope Francis in Rome. Lionel Richie was there, and Leo Rojas. When I heard him playing, I had just recorded one song called Stuck to My Guns. I asked him would he mind playing on one of my tracks. He said "I'd be thrilled!" It's on there, and it's wonderful.
Q: Is there ever a chance that Bonnie Tyler will go into retirement?
A: No, never. Last year I had a year of retirement. I've enjoyed every minute of it, but I'm ready to go now. I'm fired up and ready to rock that stage with my awesome band!
