Moominvalley and their friends have gone down to the beach, and looking out over the sea oominpappa is reminded of his youthful life as an adventurer. The appearance of the Niblings saves him from the predicament we left him in last time, but no sooner is that danger past when a storm hits the "Oshun Oxtra", finally stranding our friends in an island kingdom far away. They go to the ruler's hundredth anniversary in the Park of Surprises, and by royal decree become new settlers. Moominpappa builds a house, but only to find that it is haunted...
