Range Rover P38 (and more) # 086 - iCarsoft Diagnostics Tool

My good friend Raymond was so kind to let me borrow his brand new iCarsoft CR Plus diagnostics unit. In this video I'll try to do a quick review of how this unit works, especially with the Range Rover P38's. We'll test it on the Ford Excursion as well.

The iCarsoft does not work with all modules in the P38. It only handles:
- Engine control (diesel and gas)
- ABS
- SRS (Airbags)

So if you want to work on the BeCM, HEVAC / AC, transmission or EAS (air suspension) you'll need something else like the HawkEye or Blackbox Solutions diagnostics units. Also the iCarsoft is a pure diagnostics / reset tool, not a programming tool. So you can't change any settings on your vehicle.

In the Ford Excursion it also only communicates with the same modules:
- Engine (diesel and gas)
- ABS
- SRS (Airbags)

However it does have all the little neat functions like injector "buzz test", glow module testing and so on. So it's a quite nice unit to complement the free ForScan Windows-software. As far as I know the ForScan doesn't do the "buzz test", but I might be wrong.

The iCarsoft diagnostics can record data from modules, and you can later review them and even extract them using the built-in SD-card that also holds the software. Updating the iCarsoft is possible for free, although I doubt they'll support many future updates before you'll need a newer diagnostics unit. But it does cover a lot of (if not most) brands out there up til at least 2016 it seems.

I'll probably be adding this unit to my tool box as it's a pretty nice and decent unit that works with so many cars.
